About Kat

Kat is a worldwide-collected visual artist.  Born in the mid-west and studied art at an early age all the way up into adulthood.  Moving to the south and putting art on hold to raise children and to pursue her dream of becoming an all Natural Female Bodybuilder/Fitness Competitor.  With the dream achieved and the children no longer small she was able to get back to art which was constantly calling to her.  Kat has been Professionally in the art domain full time since 2004.  She has collaborated with various galleries in the US including Indiana, Florida and North Carolina.  She teamed up with her husband in 2012 to open a gallery,  until his job transfer and they closed the gallery and moved. Her  paintings are included in private and public collections across the world, and have made their way to Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, USA, UK, Canada, the Netherlands, Mongolia, Singapore, Dubai and Ireland.      

Statement

I find myself revisiting youthful memories of playing in woods and balancing on a down tree crossing a swamp. Hearing mosquitos buzzing in my ears all while hearing and seeing all the mixed sounds and colors in the forest surrounding me. 

Using bright colors and spontaneous markings that emerge beneath layers of paint, alongside thought provoking titles. I create acrylic paintings that, like my thoughts and feelings, utilize the sharp irony of life. 

With the push of nature, the paintings create a dialogue between the visible and the invisible, the spoken and unspoken of the nature and life playing out in front of me. I leave room for the viewers unique interpretations. 

I am an explorer. Each work of art I create is a search into unexplored paths.  I am always surprised and terrified by art.
